The Story: Last July, a severe summer storm howled through Slow Farm. When the skies cleared, we found a massive limb from an old-growth Longleaf Pine sheared off and lying on the forest floor. On most farms, this is a problem—a mess to clean up. Here, we saw a gift.

This accidental harvest captures our farming philosophy in a jar: looking for the opportunity in what Nature gives us. We gathered the resinous needles, green cones, and inner bark, and processed them in our renovated 1934 tobacco barn.

This set is a way to connect with that resilience. It is a physical reminder that even a storm can bring something beautiful.

Two Scent Paths

The pine’s subtly deep green scent became the anchor for two special scent paths, each defined by a unique concert of our own regeneratively grown herbs. We intentionally created these divergent paths to leverage pine’s dual nature, using respiratory-supporting herbs in The Clearing to physically open the breath, and joy-inducing notes in The Gathering for emotional buoyancy.

The Clearing 

Like walking amongst the pines on a cool, foggy morning.

This balm starts cool and brisk, led by our own Mountain Mint and seed-grown Eucalyptus. As it warms on your skin, the fog lifts, revealing the warm, resinous heart of storm-harvested Pine, Rosemary, and Goldenrod.

The Gathering 

Stepping out of the woods and into a swaying sunny field.

This scent picks up where The Clearing leaves off. The earthy pine base is still there, but this time it is highlighted with sweet floral notes and a waft of lemony citrus. It is the scent of the bees finding the first flowers of the day.

• Best For: Mood lifting, daily hydration, and wrapping yourself in the joy of the day, no matter the season.

The Experience: Practical Indulgence

We take raw, unrefined Shea Butter (sourced from an empowering women’s collective in Ghana) and whip it until it is light, airy, and instantly melting. This formula is anhydrous (water-free), whipped concentrate. It is much denser than lotion but melts instantly on contact with warm skin. A little goes a long way to provide intense moisture that sinks deep—perfect for dry faces, winter hands, or as an herbal lip balm for those who want their nature up close and personal.
