SOURCING
Our all-natural products feature botanicals regeneratively grown and foraged on our farm. When we can’t grow something ourselves, we proudly source ingredients from growers and craftspeople who share our values, ensuring quality and sustainability in every jar.
This balm boasts Slow Farm herbs alongside ethically produced raw shea butter handmade by the Fair Tale women’s cooperative in northern Ghana.
ETHICALLY &
SUSTAINABLY GROWN
This all-natural balm begins in our organically tended forests and fields where native loblolly pines and sweetgum tower overhead. These resilient plants require minimal care and resources, making them sustainable crops that contribute to a healthier planet.
HAND HARVESTED
& PROCESSED
We hand harvest every twig, leaf, and blossom that goes into our products. The person who tends the plants is the same person who harvests, dries, slow infuses, distills, and makes them into a nourishing beard balm just for you. We produce Slow Goods in micro batches to ensure you get the freshest possible products.
FARMING FORWARD BY
THINKING BACKWARDS
Slow Farm uses farming as a tool to restore our soil, rather than using soil to support farming as has been the traditional mindset. We do this by identifying and researching environmental problems (like drought, erosion, etc) and then incorporating livestock and plant crops that help resolve those issues slowly and sustainably.
To-date, Slow Farm has planted over 400 native herb, fruit, and nut plants and reintroduced dozens of native wildflowers species on our 47 acre farm. Native plants can thrive without fertilizer or irrigation because they evolved over millennia to grow here without help. This makes them extremely sustainable food and wellness resources. The non-native crops we do grow (like camellia sinesis, tulsi, and rosemary) are xerotolerant, meaning that they can tolerate hot and dry conditions.
HEALTH & ALLERGY
WARNINGS
Slow Goods are produced in a space that also processes various nut products. If you have never tried the ingredients in this balm, we recommend testing a small area of your skin before applying widely. If you have allergies to other confers, maples, or members of the aster family (like sunflowers or daisies), this product may not work for you.
The FDA has not signed off on using these plant species for medical purposes, due to a lack of research. Pregnant women should always consult their doctors before trying any new herbal product.
